About the pieces
What are your shields made of?
Layered plywood, carved and then finished in colour by hand, with a metal boss at the centre and a studded rim. The materials for each design are listed on its product page.
Are they decorative?
Yes. Every piece is wall décor, made for display indoors.
Which size should I choose?
The 23 inch shield suits shelves, offices and smaller walls. The 26 inch size works well in living rooms and studies. The 29 inch shield is a centrepiece for a large wall or above a fireplace. Our size and hanging guide explains how to choose.
Does it come ready to hang?
Yes. The wall hardware is in the box.
Do the colours look like the photos?
Each piece is finished by hand, so the grain and the colour vary a little from one shield to the next. That is part of its character.
Personalisation and custom work
Can I add a name, a date or runes?
Yes, on any piece marked Engravable. Type up to 24 characters on the product page and choose runes, classic or Norse lettering. It adds about three days to the making time. You can also attach a sketch or a logo.
Do you make custom designs?
We do. Read custom orders and personalisation and send us your idea.
Shipping
How long will my order take?
Most orders are prepared and packed within 1 to 3 business days. Express delivery then usually takes 5 to 9 business days, depending on where you live. You get a tracking number by email as soon as the parcel leaves.
Will I pay customs or import fees?
Orders to Canada and the United States ship from inside each country, so there are no import charges. For Europe we pay the duties and taxes for you. Full details are in our shipping policy.
Returns
Can I return a piece?
Yes, within 15 days of delivery, unused and in its original packaging. Personalised and custom pieces are made only for you and cannot be returned. See returns and refunds.
What if it arrives damaged?
Email us with a photo as soon as you open the box. We will arrange a replacement or a repair.
Gifting
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes, for any amount from $50 to $1,000. We email the card on the day you choose, with your message. If they spend less than the card is worth, the rest stays on it for their next order.
Can I send an order straight to someone else?
Yes. Enter their address as the delivery address at checkout.
Care
How do I look after my shield?
Dust it with a soft dry cloth and keep it out of strong sun and away from damp walls. Our care guide covers the rest.
